London man wants police, bylaw officers to be able to rescue animals locked in hot cars

In London, Ontario, Canada, police officers or bylaw officers are not allowed to break a window to rescue a dog left locked in a car.  But there’s a law against leaving a dog locked inside a car.  But…
Of course it makes no sense.  There’s a petition link included within the original article if you want to weigh in on how important it is that police officers and bylaw officers be allowed to enforce the law to save a dying dog.
